Giovanni Morassutti is an Italian actor, director, writer, and neo- expressionist and abstract visual artist. He combines action painting and collage techniques with dynamic brushstrokes, and found materials including Illustrations, portraits and textiles. Many of his works have plastic fake eyes installed on the canvas. Hi art practice deals with themes such as sexuality, obsession, suffering, family, loneliness and death. Giovanni Morassutti is also the founder and artistic director of Art Aia- Creatives/ In/ Residence which is an international artist residency, located inside a farm in the Friulian countryside of Northern Italy with a subsidiary space in Berlin called Art Aia - La Dolce Berlin where Giovanni has been working on a collection based on pairing wine with contemporary art as well as on a series of works based on his family of origin. In his visual art practice he is influenced by the work of Jean-Michel Basquiat, Julian Schnabel, Jackson Pollock, among others.
