Douglas Simonson is an American artist who has been painting professionally since 1980. He studied at the University of Nebraska, the University of Hawaii, and the Honolulu Academy of Fine Arts. Born in Nebraska, Simonson relocated to Honolulu in 1971, and lived and worked there for over 40 years. Despite his out-of-the-way location, art collectors from all over the world sought him out, and there are now many thousands of Simonson collectors in over 80 countries worldwide.

The artist ranges far and wide in terms of subject matter, including figurative work, portraiture, landscapes, and abstracts. His preferred medium is acrylic and he primarily works on canvas.

Simonson divides his time between Lincoln, Nebraska and Puerto Vallarta, Mexico.

Artist's Statement:
"My objective as a painter is infuse as much life and energy into my work as possible. I'm always pushing myself to take more chances and be more fearless, because that's what makes me feel present and full alive—and that's what makes the artwork I produce live, breathe and pulsate. I want to feel fully alive when I make a painting, and I want the viewer to feel more alive as a result of looking at it."
